This national speaking tour of Venezuelan revolutionary youth leader and eco-socialis, Heryck Rangel is a rare opportunity to hear about how Venezuela’s socialist revolution is confronting the crises by putting human beings and the environment before capitalist profits.
Rangel is a student in political and administrative studies at the Central University of Venezuela. He was one of the founders, and is also current national coordinator of the Venezuelan Ecocitizens Movement (Ecovida) which spreads environmental awareness and, with the assistance of Venezuela’s revolutionary government, carries out environmental projects for the conservation, management and regeneration of the natural environment.
Rangel is also a member of the United Socialist Party (PSUV) – Venezuela’s mass socialist party that is the leading social force in advancing the revolution. The party now has 6.7 million members. In 2008, Rangel was a member of the party’s National Promoters’ Group for the establishment of a PSUV youth organisation (J-PSUV). Today, J-PSUV is inspiring and organising Venezuelan youth to commit themselves to building the “socialism in the 21st century” that has been called for by the country’s revolutionary president, Hugo Chavez.
